1,000 square feet of entertaining area on the ground floor makes it ideal for the large family or groups of friends. The kitchen faces into the dining area which easily sits 10.

Past the stairs and the chimney is the living room where you can cuddle up with a book, watch TV or be with friends.
There are four main bedrooms in the barn. Upstairs there are two very large bedrooms and a full bathroom with a shower.
Downstairs there is a two bedded "Kids" room, a full bathroom with an old fashioned legged tub plus hand- shower and a further single bedroom. There is also a full utility room with washer, dryer and laundry sink.
Here is the main bedroom that faces south. It has two huge cupboards and pine furniture. There is a ceiling fan and a skylight that faces west.

When you reach Charlottetown and follow signs for the Trans Canada Highway 1. This will take you to the Hillsborough Bridge. As you cross the bridge get into the left filter lane and turn left to Fort Augustus. This is the Bunbury Road. We are 3.2 km along this road. You will leave the suburbs and the speed sign will shift up from 50 to 80. We are at the crest of the next slight hill on the left. You will see a long line of trees as you approach. This is our driveway.
On the right hand side of the road you will see our letter box - made of wood green on a white wooden post marked "Paterson". On the left, by the driveway which in the summer is like a tunnel of trees, you will see our civic number 673.
If you cross a bridge and end up at a cross roads - you have gone about 200 metres too far.
We thought of Hopetoun because of the many synchronistic connections to Hope in our family. Robin Paterson's maiden name is Hope and her family are distantly related to the Hopes that own Hopetoun House in Scotland. Ironically the Hopeton Road (spelt differently but still the same) feeds into the Bunbury Road where we live. Our daughter is called Hope and finally the Hope Motto "Though the world is broken, hope remains" fits what we hope to achieve here.
Our property is the last vestige of a much larger property which was the home for many years Of J Walter Jones - arguably one of the great premiers of PEI. He was a renaissance man who went to study agriculture when many farmers could not read. Who was the first principal of the MacDonald School started by the MacDonald family who were even back in the 1920's concerned by the low quality of education in the conventional system. Who started the seed potato business on PEI. Who built the finest dairy herd in North America and who, annoyed with politicians, entered politics to become premier.
His love of trees is his great gift to us. Our driveway is lined by a tunnel of ancient lindens. We have a huge oak tree by the house and the remains of a pine plantation at the back. He created a magic kingdom
