Tax Fun - Software and Online filing making it easy

It's ironic that the one government agency that takes our money provides the best service. My tax return took 20 minutes to do on Quicken and 5 minutes to file by Netfile. Apparently I am part of a huge trend that does their own tax at home on a PC and files directly.

If I was H& R Block I would be worried. Intuit were smart - they are now working with the IRS and offering a free service on the IRS site in the US. Our Canadian version was exceptionally easy to use and comprehensive. if you can read and type - you can do it.

Robin and I feel sort of proud, even though we owe them money - we did it and it was straightforward. I even had to call for some info and I spoke to a real person - who laughed with me! Imagine that a funny tax collector. The phone was answered in less than a minute. The netfile site is really well designed and helpful

When will other agencies offer the same? Imagine if you could deal with HRDC the same way. Imagine if you could renew all your car related stuff this way. Imagine if you could register a course at UPEI this way?
