Feeling Loss

Chris
Could you comprehend the loss of 150,000 people? I could not.

But tonight on the local news I learned of the death, in a skiing accident, of Chris Driscoll. Chris was 21. He was a wonderful musician and came this summer and played with friends at our barn.

I was struck by his presence. Maybe drummers have to feel the world. He had this deep voice and stillness about him. Well he is dead and I am pierced to the heart. I cannot mourn for thousands but my heart breaks for this one man.

How precious life is and how easy it is to take it for granted. How bitter a task for a parent to bury their child. How incomprehensible it is to imagine a young life not lived. How important it is then surely to not waste a moment of one 's own life.

To his close friends and to his family my deepest sympathies
