In August 2014, I begun a "Real Time" story of my large extended Montreal family and their experiences in World War 1. It is now the end of October and the First Contingent are here on Salisbury Plain where they will stay until February of 1915.
I focus on my own family and on Montrealers but I hope that by telling these specific stories, that I tell the universal story that applies to all Canadians who were involved.
I do not restrict myself to the men. Much of the story is about the women who gave and lost so much too.
With the arrival of the First Contingent in England in late October 1914, we have reached the end of the first chapter.
I thought it may be helpful to take all my posts so far and list them here. I will do this again in February next year when the Canadians arrive in France just in time for the second battle of Ypres.
What an experience!
