For many of her Christmases, our Governor General, who was accused of being an elitist, was not at home but in the field and even at sea with the men and women of our armed forces. She took her role as C in C very seriously at a time when most politicians paid them lip service. She gave them herself.

What a great Governor General we have had. Best wishes to her and to JRS who was so kind to me many years ago when I thought I knew so much about life and the world.
