I have been tagged by Doug Manning in a Blog tag game where you tag 5 people whose blog you enjoy and ask them to tell the world about 5 things that most people may not know of you.
Doug Nominated - - Jeremy Hiebert at Lifestylism, Curt Rosengren at Occupational Adventure, Robert Paterson at Weblog, Jason Goldberg at Jobster, and Steve Pavlina at Personal Development for Smart People.
So here goes
- I am not English - I sound it - very toffee nosed - but was born to Canadians in Montreal. I actually feel like a stateless person not quite at home anywhere. Maybe this is why I like consulting - the eternal outsider?
- Like Doug, I love stories. As a boy my Nanny Fluffy taught me to read quite early and for the first few years read almost nothing but myths and stories of the Greeks and the Romans. I see my own life increasingly as my own mythic adventure - will I grow up before I die? What tests will I endure? I am already fortunate to have a small fellowship that helps me.
- I love sad music - Elgar's cello concerto, The 4 last songs by Strauss, Over the rainbow by Eva Cassidy....
- I was going to be a professional soldier when I was 18 but at the last moment chose another life. While I played as an amateur, that life has always called me and still does.
- I love the study of history - I like to go beyond the books and go to the place and immerse myself in the other time. This spring I go to Vimy to return to the battlefields of the CEF and remember my grandfather, Alec, who arrived just in time for the second battle of Ypres and who was wounded on September 9th 1918 and hence survived the war.
Here are 5 blogs from people who all have helped me find a voice in the sphere
- Craig Willson at Humble
- Peter Rukavina at Ruk.ca
- Cynthia Dunsford at Iridescent spoke
- Dina Mehta at Conversations with Dina
- Johnnie Moore at Johnnie Moore's Weblog
Thank you all
