In 2009 KWMU, the Public radio station of St Louis that is owned by University of Missouri-St. Louis will move into new premises next to KETC the community owned St Louis Public TV station. The Beacon - the new online news (paper) of St Louis staffed by many of St Louis finest journalists shares the space with KTC. In addition to KWMU offices and studio space, a third of the space being built for KWMU will be classrooms and performance spaces.
Next door are the Symphony and the Contemporary Art Museum.
All are connected but are not the same organizations.
What is happening in St Louis is that a "Sun" is being formed in the centre of the city. A Sun that has the mass to attract and the power to renew and to energize the city.
Is this the new Institution of our time? A compact network of organizations that can generate life and hope?
