In December 2009 I and Chris Rocker from Christ Church Oxford and Stephen Darlington started to plan a tour of the North East of the US and Toronto for the Christ Church Cathedral Choir.
On Friday night we had our last performance. Here is a part of the rehearsal where we are were joined by the Choir of Grace Church on the Hill in Toronto.
We sold our every venue. We managed to bus 50 boys and young men and not lose a single one.
I feel like a parent after a big wedding. It's all over but what a time we had! This is the kind of work I love. Working with very nice people for a good cause where we are trying something really new - in this case seeing how we could re-invent a music tour to become entirely a social object that built community.
In every place the boys were put up by the community. Where the local NPR station was a partner in the US. Where the community invited us to be part of them. Where the choir itself told the story and all the parents folowed their sons all along.
It has been so much fun that we cannot let go - we are now planning the next phase.
